| Dhekelia can be found in Cyprus, here is an introduction about the said place. By terms of the 1960 Treaty of Establishment that created the independent Republic of Cyprus, the UK retained full sovereignty and jurisdiction over two areas of almost 254 square kilometers in total: Akrotiri and Dhekelia. The larger of these is the Dhekelia Sovereign Base Area, which is also referred to as the Eastern Sovereign Base Area. More on this link. |
| As far as I know Dhekelia is an area located on the island of Cyprus. I am in search about their traditional clothes. Since it is part of an island on Cyprus, I believe that traditional clothes of Dhekelia are somehow related to the traditional houses of Cyprus. So it is still the same clothing that people wear. They also have special garment also worn in special occasions there. |
| Dhekalia is a wonderful and one of the historical places in Cyprus where US military base is located. The culture in this place is amazing and the clothing are also good. Some people wear the traditional dress but most of them wear the modern clothes. These modern clothes includes denims, shirts, tees, hats, caps and others. |
| I have never been to Cyprus but I know someone who works there. So, Dhekalia is in Cyprus, huh? I'm sure that its culture and history are as colorful as the rest of Cyprus. I'm just not sure about the fashion trends there but it's good to know that the people there also wear denims and casual clothes, based on the responses of Marynor and Amelia. I just wonder what their formal clothes look like. |
| Reading from the World Book Encyclopedia, Cyprus clothing, including that in Dhekalia I suppose, is similar to those worn in Europe and Northern America. In the rural areas, some men wear a traditional vest and baggy black trousers called brakas or salvar while women wear short blouses and long skirts called sarkas. |

| That's true. Dhekelia is located in Cyprus. Thank you for posting the information regarding Dhekelia’s clothing. I think some or most people wear modern clothes especially those people who are influenced by modernization. I'm kinda interested in learning different facts about Dhekelia because I find it new and unique. Unfortunately, I'm not fully aware of their culture and traditions. I hope that someone can share more information about this place especially the people's behavior and special cuisine. |

| I have seen clothes from Dhekelia once and their clothes seem to use silky cloth with patches on it. It is bright and smooth. I think it is usually used whenever they have traditional celebrations in the place. I have not gone to Cyprus yet, but I wish to be there soon particularly in Dhekelia and witness the real clothing people wear for special events. Great day to all. |

| I am really not that familiar with tat place they called Dhekelia. Marynor is quite knowledgeable of world geographic though. Cyprus is really a rare destination to be I am a fashion designer and I always dream to have my own fashion show, and it will be a great help if I could discover new designs that will really help me. | Each and every nation has its own national costume. Most of the national costumes are made from the native materials of the country that have been handed down from one generation to another. It is important to recognize the right costume because as you wear it, you also represent your nation to the whole world. I wonder about the native or traditional costume in Dhekelia. | It is really great to know about the different clothes, especially those national and traditional costumes and clothes of different countries from all over the world. There had been so many innovations in a way modern people dresses up. And I think it would be sad if we are to forgot what our ancestors used to wear in the past. And it is good to know that Dhekelia still preserves their identity through their costumes and clothes. |
| That is so true Jerri. Not all are good in preserving what they have in relation to their heritage and culture. And one way to still manage to keep what we have is to preserve what early used to wear, those national clothes that we have to treasure for future generations to also be able to see and be able to look back upon. I am sure that there are much to see of these in Dhekelia. |
| I am in search for some good idea on how people in Dhekelia dress up. My little daughter will be wearing a costume from the said place for their United Nations program and I still have not clue on what to do to her costume.
